Merkel Educational Foundation(MEF) Sonography Student Scholarship provides a $500.00 scholarship to a deserving sonography student who has been accepted or is currently enrolled in an educational program in diagnostic medical sonography or cardiovascular technology that has been accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Educational Programs (CAAHEP). (If the sonography program you’re registered in isn’t CAAHEP approved, you may substitute the CAAHEP approval with an advanced degree, Bachelor’s or above, from an accredited university within the United States.)
Application deadlines: There are two application deadlines each year for this scholarship. One $500.00 scholarship is awarded each application period (for educational expenses to be incurred in the 12 months following this scholarship deadline):
1) June 30, 2018
2) December 31, 2018
Instructions: To be considered for the MEF Sonography Student Scholarship, please fill in the requested information as completely and accurately as possible. Be sure to email (all at once) the required attachments in a email to: [email protected]. It is your responsibility to ensure the application is completed fully — failure to follow instructions (including Essay Question Requirements), failure to fully complete the application, or failure to attach all required documents will disqualify your application.
Proof of current enrollment from the educational program is required. Acceptable documents include:
- A formal letter of program acceptance or continued enrollment on college/school letterhead (copied/pasted emails are not valid) signed and dated by an authorized representative within the past three months
- PDF of an official transcript from the institution showing enrollment in the next academic term in a CAAHEP accredited sonography program. If institution isn't CAAHEP accredited, provide official transcript from the institution showing enrollment in the next academic term and official transcripts of advanced degree.
Provide Proof of Texas Residency - Any document issued by this State or county, city, or the federal government; TX Vehicle Registration Card or title; TX Voter Precinct Card; Military Orders/Documents; Utility bill or cable bill; Housing lease or contract, mortgage statement, property or income tax statement; Preprinted financial statement; School records; TX Vehicle insurance policy.
Notification: Notification regarding whether you have been awarded the scholarship will occur approximately 60 days after the application deadline. All applicants will be notified via email once the scholarship has been awarded.
